This was dramatically the greatest design change the site has had, it was more or less fully implremented November 30th 2009. I tried working out a logo for it, like most designs it evolved, but it never came to full form and almost two years later I still don't know where to put it. Other visual changes include a basic white content box with a black border.
Another change was the font switch, to more unify the body font and the graphic fonts (formerly Hypatia Sans) I switched to Helvetica, if you're on a Mac (or a PC with the Helvetica font) the font that appears in body paragraphs is the same as the font in the header, yay!
The final change was to make a switch to PHP, I still don't know much, but I made this switch primarily so I could change the header and footer quickly by just changing the file the php was including. This also sped up load times overall.
I think it still looks good, but it could be way way simpler and that's what I'll be aiming for in TSS 4.0, whenever that may be.
